Daisy’s Story – Why I Started Daisy’s Interpretation Services
In 2016 while working at a nonprofit organization, I saw firsthand that the need in our area was greater than services were able to provide at that time. There were a few instances during that job when I had to get on the phone with a Spanish speaking patient to be able to facilitate communication between them and the office assistant. I did not hesitate to help when asked, even though this was not part of my job duties nor was I being paid for it. I just wanted to ensure that the Spanish speaking person on the other end of that call knew that their message was being heard and understood. It broke my heart to have to tell them that they could not be seen because there were not enough interpreters to assist them in their appointments.
It was then that I knew there was indeed a demand for English<>Spanish interpretation and translation services in our community that was left unmet. After leaving the nonprofit I was working for, I immediately embarked on my journey to help ensure that everyone who needs interpretation or translation services will be helped. That is how Daisy’s Interpretation Services was born, in November 2019 right before the pandemic hit.
Bridging the Communication Gap in Our Healthcare Community
Fast forward to two years later, and I am proud to say that I am now the proud Owner and CEO of my own English<>Spanish interpretation and translation business in the greater Lorain County, OH area. We are the 1st organization of our kind in the city of Lorain, OH. We are making a difference in our community by bridging that gap of communication between healthcare providers and their Spanish-speaking patients/clients, while upholding the Standards and Code of Ethics for Interpreters.
